Batt & Blanket Overview
Perhaps one of the most “user-friendly” types of insulation, batt insulation has been widely used across the residential and commercial industries for many years. When it comes to versatility, batt insulation is available in a variety of different materials, thicknesses, widths, lengths, etc., proving to be effective in multiple applications. It is common to find this type of insulation in wall, roof, or floor system assemblies where framing members are spaced between 16″ and 24″ on-center.
Blanket insulation is similar to batt insulation in terms of installation methods and intended purposes, but it is more often found in applications with greater distances between framing members (post-frame construction).
Where can this service be applied?
Different types of batt/blanket insulation can be applied in various locations, some of which include:
- Wall assemblies (above and/or below grade)
- Attic/Roof deck assemblies
- Floor systems (joist cavities)
Why is this important?
While there are many options to choose from during construction, the efficiency of your building materials is arguably the most important element (yes, we’re biased). A highly efficient structure promotes the following:
- Lower utility/service costs
- Environmental comfort (less temperature swings)
- Increased efficiency of mechanical components (HVAC systems, boilers, etc.)
- Indoor air quality
- And most importantly… health and wellbeing!
For many scenarios, batt and/or blanket insulation is an excellent product choice that can provide the following:
- Thermal protection
- Sound transmission control
